Last updated: 19-09-2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance

1.1 These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website operated by Velmont Chambers at [www.velmontchambers.com] and every page, sub-domain and feature connected to it (together, the "Website"), including the articles, updates and commentary published under our blog, "Insights", and all other text, graphics, documents and materials made available through the Website (together, the "Content").

1.2 In these Terms, "Velmont Chambers", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Velmont Chambers, and "you" and "your" refer to any person who visits, browses or otherwise uses the Website.

1.3 By visiting or using the Website, or by accessing any Content, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms and agree to be legally bound by them. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please stop using the Website immediately.

1.4 These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules framed under it. They are generated by a computer system and do not need a physical or digital signature to be binding.

2. No Legal Advice and No Advocate-Client Relationship

2.1 The Website and all Content, including every post on Insights, are offered purely as general information and as a courtesy to clients, colleagues and other readers. The Content does not constitute legal, tax, financial or professional advice of any kind, and it is not intended to solicit clients or work.

2.2 Your use of the Website, your reading of any Content, or your sending of any email or message to us through the Website does not create an advocate-client relationship between you and Velmont Chambers or any of its members. Such a relationship arises only once we have confirmed our engagement to you in writing, following our standard conflict checks.

2.3 You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of any Content without first obtaining specific legal advice suited to your circumstances from a qualified professional.

2.4 Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information to us through the Website or by unsolicited email. Until an engagement is confirmed in writing, we cannot guarantee that such information will be treated as privileged or confidential, and receipt of it will not prevent us from acting for another party in the same or a related matter.

3. Insights

3.1 Insights articles reflect the law and circumstances as understood by the author on the date of publication. The law changes frequently, and we are under no obligation to revise, update or withdraw any article after it is published.

3.2 Views expressed in any Insights article are those of the individual author and do not necessarily represent the views of Velmont Chambers or of any of our clients.

3.3 You may share a link to any Insights article, or quote a brief extract with clear attribution to Velmont Chambers and a link to the original article. Any other reproduction, republication or commercial use requires our prior written consent.

4. Changes to the Website and to These Terms

4.1 We may modify, suspend or discontinue the Website, any Content or any service described on it, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice.

4.2 We may amend these Terms from time to time by publishing the updated version on the Website with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Website after an update is published will mean you accept the amended Terms. Amendments will apply only from the date of publication and will not have retrospective effect.

5. Eligibility

You may use the Website only if you are legally competent to enter into a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. If you are under 18 years of age, you may use the Website only under the supervision of a parent or lawful guardian.

6. Intellectual Property

As between you and us, these rights vest solely in Velmont Chambers.

6.2 The name "Velmont Chambers" and all associated logos and marks are our trademarks. You may not use them in any manner without our prior written consent, and any unauthorised use may amount to infringement or passing off.

6.3 Except as expressly allowed in these Terms, you may not copy, reproduce, adapt, distribute, publicly display, sell, license or otherwise exploit any part of the Website or the Content for commercial purposes without our prior written permission.

7. Licence to Use the Website

7.1 Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to view the Content and to download or print one copy of any page for your own personal, non-commercial reference.

7.2 You must not remove, obscure or alter any copyright notice, attribution, disclaimer or other legal notice appearing on the Website or in any Content.

7.3 Certain features or services on the Website may be subject to additional terms, which will be displayed alongside them. Those additional terms supplement these Terms and will prevail if there is any inconsistency, but only in relation to that feature or service.

Clauses 2, 6, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 and 24, and any other provision that by its nature is intended to continue, will survive any termination.

20. Force Majeure

We will not be responsible for any delay, interruption or failure in the availability or operation of the Website caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, epidemics, war, civil unrest, acts of government, cyber-attacks, power failures, or the failure of internet, hosting or telecommunications providers.

21. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or with the Website (including non-contractual disputes), will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Subject to Clause 22, the courts at New Delhi, India will have exclusive jurisdiction.

22. Dispute Resolution

22.1 Negotiation. If any dispute, controversy or claim arises out of or in connection with these Terms or the Website, including any question about their existence, validity, interpretation, performance or termination (a "Dispute"), the party raising the Dispute will give written notice of it to the other party. The parties will then try in good faith to resolve the Dispute through negotiation within thirty (30) days of the date of that notice.

22.2 Arbitration. If the Dispute is not resolved within that period, either party may refer it to final and binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (as amended from time to time). The arbitral tribunal will consist of a sole arbitrator appointed by mutual agreement of the parties. If the parties fail to agree on an arbitrator within thirty (30) days of a written request for appointment, the arbitrator will be appointed in accordance with Section 11 of that Act.

22.3 Seat and conduct. The seat and venue of arbitration will be New Delhi, India. The proceedings will be conducted in English. The award of the arbitrator will be final and binding on the parties and may be enforced in any court of competent jurisdiction.

22.4 Interim relief. Nothing in this Clause prevents either party from seeking urgent interim or injunctive relief from the courts at New Delhi, including under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.

22.5 Costs. Unless the arbitrator decides otherwise, each party will bear its own costs of the arbitration, and the arbitrator's fees and administrative expenses will be shared equally.

23. Time Limit for Claims

Any claim or cause of action that you may have arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Website must be commenced within six (6) months from the date on which the claim or cause of action first arises. If it is not commenced within that period, the claim or cause of action will be permanently barred.

24. General

24.2 No waiver. Our failure to act, or delay in acting, in respect of any failure by you or others to comply with these Terms will not waive or limit our right to act in respect of that failure or any later or similar failure.

You may not assign or transfer any of your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent, and any attempted assignment or transfer in breach of this Clause will be null and void.
